The first win is out the way.

As anticipated the New York Yankees had a great opening day game. Specially when you get a win of course, but then also how all the pieces fell in place to create that win. Starting with CC even though he was not as sharp as he can be. He was able to go six innings and allow only three runs. Which we can call it a quality start but we all know that CC is better than that and he probably will be the first one to admit it. Today's start was not to his standards. However is still a good job from CC and the bullpen took over from there, just as scripted with Joba in the seventh, Soriano in the eighth and super Mariano in the ninth. You add a couple of homers there from Teixeira and Granderson, plus some outstanding defensive plays again from Granderson, Jeter and A-Rod and what you get is a great formula for success. There you have it my friends just as advertised. The Yankees had just started their quest for number 28th and even is only one win so far but hey you got to take them one at the time right? So lets this be the beginning of a great season and many more wins to come. For those out there that think that the Red Sox are the team to beat in AL East, well you may want to reconsider that opinion. Now, I do understand that the Yankees need to go through the whole rotation and get contributions from every starter specially from those at he back end  that according to the analysts have questions marks. But as I have made the case on one of my previous postings. The Yankees rotation can match up against any other in the league, specially since they have the power support in their offence to come on top.

Well The New Season is Here!

Finally, Tomorrow is the big day. The New season gets on its way and back again on a new journey for a new tittle. For the Yankees I will say, things are looking pretty good. Alex Rodriguez seems to be in great shape and after having a great spring training he seems poised to have a great season. The same can be said for a lot of the other guys like Cano, Jeter and Teixeira. CC Showed up to camp 25 pounds lighter, Swicher is in a lot better shape as well, I mean all of those guys looked like they really put a lot of work this off season and it will really pay off. All around the Yankees seemed ready to go and have a great Year. So Tigers get ready, tomorrow should be a great game and I'll be ready to watch it. Go Yankees.

Opening Day right around the corner.

It is getting close to opening day, and now the excitement of the new season is getting bigger and bigger as each day goes by. Opening day has such a great feeling of celebration. It is a combination of all kinds of emotions "good ones" of course. The beginning of a new year, new season, every team starts fresh with the same goal in mind. Unfortunaly only one will make it all the way to the end, and for me that team will be the mighty Yankees. Let the season begin and have a great year. Looking forward to enjoying every game this season and have a lot of FUN.

The Rotation has been announced.

Well from all the areas that takes around having a great team, the pitching rotation was the one the everybody had identified as the weakest one for the Yankees. If you look at offence, they have a great line up that can hit for power and average. For defence they can put a lot of gold gloves on the field. Their bullpen is probably one of the strongest in the league with Joba, Robertson, Soriano and of course the great Mariano. For speed they have plenty of it on Gardner, Jeter  and Granderson. Now lets take a look at the starting rotation, and what you will find is that is not as bad as everyone seem to say it is. People talk about all the question marks the rotation has on Burnett not being consistent and Nova being new, and who ever the fifth starter was going to be. Now we know will be Freddy Garcia. Well Freddy Garcia will be a good fifth man for the Yankees, heck he could a good second or third man in many other teams. So now that we know who are the five guys that the Yankees will put out there. I'll say yeah, they can compete against anyone and go for number 28.

Cano for MVP again?

Is Cano ready to run for MVP on the new season? I certainly think so. He put a lot of extra work on the off season back in the Dominican Republic with his dad and friends to enhance what already is a great set of tools and skills that he posses. He spent a lot of time trying to improve that great swing he has and at the same time even serving as a coach to help fellow teammates Francisco Cervelli and Eduardo Nunez improve theirs. With all that said though Cano will have even bigger competition this year on the run for MVP, since teammates Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez are coming into the season healthy and don't have to battle all those injuries from last year. Besides there is also the usual suspects from around the league that we all know will stay in content all the way through. You know who they are: Miguel Cabrera, Joe Mauer, Kevin Youkalis and of course reigning MVP Josh Hamilton. That is all great competition but I think with three great candidates in pinstripes maybe even four since Jeter is due to have a great season as well, I can expect this year's MVP to come from the Bronx.

Phil looked good.

Phil Hughes had a strong outing yesterday holding the Blue Jays to three runs in seven innings. That is on today's standards a quality start. Just what you need from your number three starter. So for all of those critics out there, take a look at what we can expect from our number three guy. Now, I know what you're thinking what about after your first three starters. What do the Yankees have? well the answer to that is Ivan Nova for number four. Yes he is a rookie, yes he needs to prove him self, and yes he does not have a track record, yet. But what he does have is poise, courage and most importantly GOOD stuff. Think about who the Red Sox have as their number four starter. They just demoted Josh Becket to that spot, and when you think of Josh Becket you think, yes he does have a track record and a good one, but he also have a track record of injuries. Can they really rely on him, who knows. So at the end of the day I don't know if that's really a big advantage over the Yankees. Now the way I look at it all my fellow Yankees fans out there, by the time the season get ready to start in just a few days from now, the Yankees will have a starting rotation ready to compete just like any other one in the league.

Getting Ready Again

As the new season comes upon us. The New York Yankees get ready yet for another great adventure towards tittle number 28. We all know that the goal from day one is to make it all the way to the end, and for the most part be seen as the favorites. Well, not this year. Many people think now that the "Great" Boston Red Sox are the favorites. I really enjoy watching MLB analysts make all those predictions and talking about how now the Red Sox are the team to beat. So lets seat back, relax and see how the season will unfold. Because I know that once again my favorite Yankees will come through and have a great year, despite all the doubts and question marks they have surrounding their pitching staff as we get ready to start yet another season.
